Approximately 0.05 percent of our body weight
is made up of silicon and is the most abundant mineral in the earth’s
crust. Silicon is found in various tissues throughout the body such the
eyes, nails, hair, skin, connective tissue, blood vessels, bone, cartilage,
and tendons and assists in making them firm and strong. In areas of bone
remodeling, or active calcification, silica is present. And, is thought
that a deficiency may increase the risk of atherosclerosis and heart disease,
arthritis and other joint and bone problems which was found in the studies
of silicon deficient rabbits and rats. 1
