Approximately 0.05 percent of our body weight is made up of silicon
and is the most abundant mineral in the earth’s crust. Silicon is found
in various tissues throughout the body such the eyes, nails, hair, skin,
connective tissue, blood vessels, bone, cartilage, and tendons and assists
in making them firm and strong. In areas of bone remodeling, or active
calcification, silica is present. And, is thought that a deficiency
may increase the risk of atherosclerosis and heart disease, arthritis
and other joint and bone problems which was found in the studies of
silicon deficient rabbits and rats. 1
